Event overview
The Runtastic FRIGID is a winter running event on January 24, 2026, held at Utah Lake State Park in Provo, Utah (4400 W Center St). The event includes the following options:
- 5K
- Penguin Plunge
- 5K & Penguin Plunge
The 5K uses a new course that includes the Provo Delta River Trailhead and offers views of Utah Lake and the surrounding mountains. The Penguin Plunge involves entering the lake through a square cut in the ice; a safety cage is installed in the water to reduce the risk of going under the ice. First aid booths are available for both the 5K and the Penguin Plunge.
Logistics and amenities
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the building at Utah Lake State Park, with day-of pickup available inside the Provo Boat Harbor building for a fee. Parking is provided at the Provo Boat Harbor. The race is professionally timed with timing chips attached to the back of the bib; the first three overall male and female finishers are determined by gun time, with other awards based on chip time. Race swag includes a beanie and gloves for participants, a finisher medal for 5K finishers, and a penguin keychain and sticker for plunge participants. Photos are taken along the course and included with registration. $2 from each registration is donated to The Wolfpack Running Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
