Event overview
The Schock & Shivers 5k and Cold Water Challenge takes place on January 24, 2026 in Chesapeake, Virginia at Oak Grove Lake Park (409 Byron Street). The event is organized by Team Chesapeake, part of Law Enforcement United, as a fundraiser for the Road to Hope and related causes. The race honors two Chesapeake officers who were killed in the line of duty. The course uses a trail-style path at Oak Grove Lake Park. The park loop measures about 1.5 miles per circuit, and the race begins at the memorial located at the lake. Early packet pick-up is available the day before the event at Pale Horse - Greenbrier (Summit Pointe); race day packet pick-up is also offered. Registration prices listed are $40 for the 5K, $20 for the kids run, and $35 for the virtual 5K. Registration before 1/10/2026 includes a race shirt; all participants receive a runner bag and finisher medal. Timing is provided by Tidewater Striders and there will be awards for top finishers.
