Event overview

The Sedona Canyons 125 is a point-to-point ultramarathon that runs from Jerome to Flagstaff, Arizona. The route covers approximately 125 miles and traverses Sedona’s red rock canyons, high-desert trails, the Coconino National Forest, and sections of the Arizona Trail. The course passes through Jerome, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, Sedona, and finishes in downtown Flagstaff. The 2026 edition is scheduled for May 6-9, 2026. Registration closes on April 26, 2026.

Course and logistics

The course has an estimated total elevation gain of about 15,015 feet (2025 estimate) and a mixed surface distribution: single-track (~79%), double-track (~12%), and pavement (~9%). Key features include a Verde River crossing near Dead Horse Ranch State Park, a loop through Sedona with a climb on Casner Canyon Trail, and an ascent onto the Coconino Plateau into Ponderosa pine forest. The race includes 10 aid stations and 2 water stations. Pacers are allowed starting at mile 55 (Munds Park); pacers must follow race rules and sign a waiver at pacer-access aid stations. Crews may access runners only at designated crew-access aid stations. Carrying a GPS-enabled device with the course file downloaded is mandatory. The event is cupless at aid stations; runners must carry their own refill containers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
