Event overview

The Seven Sisters 25k is scheduled for April 11, 2026, in Montreat, North Carolina. The race distance is 25 km (~15 miles) with about 4,000 feet of elevation gain. The course is almost entirely singletrack, roughly 13.5 miles of trail and about one mile of pavement. The published time limit is up to 5.5 hours.

Course, aid stations, and terrain

The route follows the East and West ridges of the Montreat Wilderness and passes multiple peaks and overlooks, including Lookout Rocks, Rocky Head, Graybeard, Rattlesnake Rocks, and the Seven Sisters along the West Ridge Trail. The first section includes a short stretch of pavement before entering singletrack. Trails become steep and technical with many roots and rocks. Aid stations are located at about 4 miles and 8 miles. At minimum they provide water and Gatorade; available foods include bananas, potato chips, pretzels, and M&Ms. Each aid station has a cutoff time.

Entry, logistics, and rules

Entry fee is $80. Refunds are allowed minus $20 up to 60 days before the event; no transfers or deferments are permitted. Packet pickup is available in downtown Black Mountain before race day and on race morning. Participants must carry required gear: a rain shell, at least a 20 oz water carrying device, a whistle, a cell phone, and an emergency blanket. There is no parking at the start; parking is at designated sites and the start/finish is about a third of a mile from parking. This is a cupless race.
