Shawnee Mission Park Adventure Race : May 17, 2026
The Shawnee Mission Park Adventure Race takes place at 7900 Renner Road, Lenexa, KS on May 17, 2026. The event offers multiple timed formats: 6-hour (solo and teams of 2, 3, or 4) and 2-hour (solo and family/team). The park includes hundreds of acres of trails and prairie grasslands and connects to the Mill Creek Streamway Park with 17+ miles of paved trails.
Course format and logistics
The 2-hour course is entirely on foot and requires about 6–8 miles of trekking on paved trails and off-trail through brush, trees, and possible water crossings. The 6-hour course combines trekking, mountain biking on single-track and paved trails, and paddling on the lake. Organizers advise participants to expect about 20+ miles of biking, 10 miles of hiking, and 1–2 miles of paddling. Topographic maps with pre-plotted checkpoints are distributed at packet pickup for the 6-hour course. The event is self-supported: participants must carry their own water, food, and first aid, and may use only the gear they bring. Boats, paddles, and life jackets for the 6-hour race are provided. Some checkpoints are mandatory transition areas, while most are optional; teams may skip checkpoints and still record an official finish. The race proceeds rain or shine.
