Shawnee Trail Runs

Shawnee Trail Runs takes place in West Portsmouth, Ohio, and is billed as Ohio’s most challenging ultramarathon. The event offers three distances: a 54-mile main course with about 11,000 feet of climbing (the route includes four bonus miles, for a total of 54), a 50K with 6,500 feet of gain, and a 13.1-mile option added in 2023 with 2,600 feet of climb. Runners traverse rugged, remote terrain inside Shawnee State Forest, including the Dark Side—a 9-mile segment through an 8,000-acre Wilderness Area maintained by hand.
