Shawnee Trail Runs

The Shawnee Trail Runs, held in West Portsmouth, Ohio, offer challenging trail races through rugged and remote wilderness in Shawnee State Forest. The event features three distances: a 54-mile ultra marathon with 11,000 feet of climbing, a 50K with 6,500 feet of climbing, and a 13.1-mile half marathon with 2,600 feet of climbing. The 54-mile course includes a 7-mile opening loop followed by a 47-mile loop covering much of the 40-mile Backpack Trail, including a remote 9-mile section called "The Dark Side" in a wilderness area with minimal human impact.
