Event overview
SISU 24 Ultra PNW is a multi-format endurance event held at Camp Sheppard near Enumclaw, WA, close to Mount Rainier National Park and Crystal Mountain. The event offers the following race entries:
- 100 Miler
- 24-Hour (individual)
- 24-Hour Team
The course uses six marked out-and-back trails with distances from 3 miles up to 18.9 miles. The 100-Mile option notes an approximate total elevation gain of 25,000 feet or more depending on chosen routes. Registration includes three days (two nights) of camping at Camp Sheppard with centrally located restrooms, showers, BBQ stands, and working sinks. The nearest city is about 40 minutes away.
Race format and logistics
The event is self-supported from a base camp. Runners select trails, collect a rubber stamp at the furthest point of each route, and must check in and out at HQ before and after each run for safety and tracking. Points are awarded for completing the six main trails; point values change based on how many participants have completed each route. Optional side quests on trails and separate activities (examples: midnight yoga, memory tasks, connect-the-dots, carrying an egg, sudoku, knot tying) also award points.
Awards include a custom wood round medal for all participants, podium awards for top three male and female finishers and top three teams, a custom buckle for 100-Mile finishers, a SISU Spirit Award voted by racers, and a SISU Miles award for most miles in 24 hours. Participants may select a non-binary category at registration; separate non-binary awards require a minimum of five entrants. Required gear includes a headlamp, hydration, water filtration device, food for 24 hours, and an ink pad. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
