Event
The Snowy Owl 10 Mile takes place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at York River State Park in Williamsburg, VA. The event distance is 10 mile and it benefits AWARE (Alliance of Wild Animal Rehabilitators and Educators). The event uses a snow-or-shine policy but may be moved to Sunday, January 11 if weather is considered dangerous for participant travel; there are no refunds or deferrals to the following year if the date is changed. The event has a 4 hour cutoff, which allows for hiking as well as running.
Course and services
The course uses a mix of paved road, dirt fire roads and single track. Total elevation gain is about 600 feet. Approximately five miles are technical single track, about 3/4 mile is on road, and the remainder is on dirt fire road trails. Course features include rocky sections, twisting single track, a boardwalk with views, and paved downhill near the finish. Aid stations are at Marl Ravine (1.5 mile and 9 mile), Riverview (3.5 mile) and Majestic Oak (6 mile) and will offer water and light snacks such as gels and fruit. At the finish there will be hot coffee, cocoa and snacks. All finishers receive a ceramic medal with the event logo; registered runners receive a race logo item, a winter hat and park entry.
