Spooner's Cove Trail Run
The Spooner's Cove Trail Run, held at Montana de Oro State Park in Los Osos, California, offered scenic trail running with views of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and the ocean. The event featured multiple distances: an 8K with minimal climbing along the bluff, a 13K ascending the 1,347-foot Valencia Peak, and a 25K combining the 13K loop with a climb to the 1,076-foot Hazard Peak. For more challenge, runners could complete the 25K loop twice for a 50K race.
The course was primarily single track with some dirt roads and asphalt, marked with color-coded ribbons. Aid stations were stocked every 5-8 miles, and the event emphasized environmental care by being cupless. The race has been discontinued.
