Course, aid stations and logistics

Both courses are mountain routes with technical singletrack, many rocks and roots, steep climbs and descents, and more than 3 miles of crushed gravel carriage roads. The 25K has about 2,500 ft of elevation gain and the 10 miler about 1,800 ft. Each route begins with a roughly 1,500+ ft climb on Smiley Carriage Road over approximately 3.2 miles. The 25K route visits Verkeerder Kill Falls (187 ft) and passes Lake Maratanza; the 25K includes sections of scrambling.

There are two on-course aid stations: Smiley (mile 3.2 for both; also at mile 13.75 for the 25K) and Maratanza (mile 11 for the 25K). Aid stations provide water, Skratch hydration, and snacks. The course will be marked with neon pink reflective ribbon and large red directional arrows. All participants must carry a charged cell phone, a water bottle or hydration pack (organizers recommend at least 1.5 L), at least 300 extra calories, a whistle, and a GPX course file on a device; trekking poles and other items are recommended. Dogs are not allowed at Berme Road Park. Participants are required to attend or watch the prepared webinar about the local ecosystem.
