Overview

The Standhope Ultra Challenge is a trail race event near Ketchum, Idaho, held July 24-26, 2026. The course is in the Pioneer Mountain range and reaches elevations up to 11,000 feet. Weather in the mountains can change quickly and every aid station is hiked in. Finishers receive a handcrafted award. There is no qualifying requirement for 2026 and there are no early starts for 2026.

Races and course facts

  • 100 Mile - over 23,000 feet of climbing across remote wilderness trails with long stretches between aid stations; listed as a backcountry route spanning July 25-26.
  • 60K - 37.2 miles with about 9,000 feet of vertical gain, including high ridgelines and mountain lakes.
  • 30K - covers the second half of the 60K course, over 4,300 feet of climbing; the description notes steep grades with an average of about 325 feet per mile and an expected finish time of roughly 4–6 hours.

Logistics

Shuttle service is available for the 30K and 60K but tickets are separate and must be purchased by July 17th to be planned by the shuttle provider. The event notes that the terrain is remote and technical, and organizers advise entrants to be prepared for significant elevation gain and mileage.
