Steamtown Marathon

Steamtown Marathon is a USATF-certified, Boston Marathon qualifier held in northeastern Pennsylvania. The race runs 26.2 miles from Forest City to Courthouse Square in downtown Scranton, starting at Forest City High School and finishing on North Washington Avenue. The course features several miles of paved Rails-to-Trails along the Lackawanna River and a total elevation drop of about 955 feet, passing through 14 communities.

Proceeds benefit St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton, and the event has donated over $2.5 million since 1996. The 2025 edition, on Sunday, October 12, marks the 28th running, with registration opening April 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
