Event overview
The Stubborn Fool is a 6-hour adventure race scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Registration opens November 1, 2025. Format, distances, divisions and rules
The race combines biking and trekking/land navigation. Actual distances depend on route choice and checkpoints attempted; teams attempting to clear the course should expect the upper end of the ranges. Distances are subject to change as course design is finalized.
- Biking - 12 to 35 miles
- Trekking / Land navigation - 1 to 10 miles
Divisions include Family (2–4 mixed-generation team with at least one under 18), Coed Premier (3 or 4 person), Open Premier (3 or 4 same-gender), 2 Person Coed, 2 Person Open, Solo Man, and Solo Woman. Premier divisions are the 3- or 4-person traditional teams and receive the most awards.
Entry fee tiers are Super Early, Early, Regular, and Late with increasing prices. Racers must have an annual USARA membership or purchase a single-event license. The event follows USARA anti-doping policies. Refund and transfer policies specify full and partial refund deadlines and no refunds after a published date.
