Event overview
The Tampa Bay 100 is a point-to-point urban ultramarathon organized by Skunk Ape Events. The course covers 100 miles from Ybor City in Tampa to a finish at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. The route passes through Safety Harbor, Dunedin, Clearwater, Gulf Blvd, Gulfport and other coastal and urban areas. The course is mostly flat with a listed elevation gain of approximately 1,165 feet and elevation loss of about 1,218 feet. The event is described as a self-guided endurance tour rather than a traditional competitive race; finish times are recorded and top finishers are recognized.
Course, logistics and rules
The route is marked using directional cards and a CalTopo app map. Five staffed aid stations are listed: Courtney Campbell, Cooper’s Bayou, Dunedin, Indian Rocks Beach (Gulf Breeze Inn), and Gulfport. Drop bags are available at Dunedin (around 50–60 miles) and Gulfport (near 80 miles). There are hard cutoffs at Dunedin and Gulfport and an overall finish cutoff of 36.5 hours. Mandatory items include a cell phone, race direction sheet, at least one water bottle or hydration pack (minimum 20 oz), headlamp and spare batteries, reflective gear and front/back blinking lights, and the CalTopo app. Rules cover crew behavior, pacing limits, night-visibility requirements, navigation and littering. Finishers earn a 100-mile belt buckle and the event provides awards and participant swag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
