The Barley Chase

The Barley Chase is an annual USATF certified 5K and 10K race held in Newport, North Carolina, starting and finishing at Shortway Brewing Co. The course winds through the heart of Newport, offering water stations at halfway points. Participants receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, and two complimentary post-race pints at the after-party, which includes food trucks.

Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers and age group winners. The event supports the local nonprofit Bread & Barley and coincides with Shortway Brewing Company's anniversary celebration, creating a festive and community-focused atmosphere.
