Event overview
The Bear Chase Race is a multi-distance trail running festival held October 3-4, 2026 at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. Distances offered include:
- 100K
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- Half Marathon (13.1 mi)
- 10K
- 5K
Most courses are looped combinations of mapped segments (for example, the 100K uses five 12.5-mile loops). Course surfaces are primarily dirt singletrack and crusher-fine trail; the 50K and 10K include short sections of asphalt. Total elevation gain varies by distance, from about 127 ft for the 5K to 4,336 ft for the 100K. Time limits are set per event (for example, the 100K has a 16-hour limit).
Course, aid and logistics
Aid stations are placed around the loops and generally offer water, Tailwind endurance fuel, soda, snacks, fruit, and sandwich options. Start/finish aid stations provide drop-bag access and porta potties. Crewing assistance is allowed only at the Start/Finish area; on-course crew aid is prohibited. Pacers are permitted for the 100K and 50M after a designated time and must check in; pacers are not allowed for the 50K, Half, 10K, or 5K. Drop bags, park entry, parking locations, medical support, and rules about staying on marked trails and carrying personal hydration are specified for all runners. Registration closes September 28, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
