The Crooked Canter : event details
The Crooked Canter takes place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Dexter, MI at Crooked Lake Campground. The event is organized as a group run with a low entry fee of $5; proceeds will cover food costs and extra funds will be donated to the FGR XC team. The day may include a bonfire, various food and drinks, and prizes for the fastest single loop and for the most loops completed. The format can include a backyard-style option with one loop permitted each hour.

Course and logistics
The course starts and finishes at Crooked Lake Campground and will be run clockwise. The organizer lists one loop as about 4.3 miles, while older maps indicate 5.1 miles; the organizer has also observed it closer to 4 miles. Trails are not groomed and include frequent hills, roots, sand, and similar natural surfaces. Expect about 440 ft of elevation gain per loop (roughly 100 ft per mile).
Parking includes a small number of reserved campsites at Crooked Lake Campground on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additional parking is available alongside Silver Hill Rd, about a quarter mile from the start. Timing is informal; the event is not advertised as having chip timing or formal race services.
