The Great River Challenge
The Great River Challenge is an off-road triathlon held at the Northfield Mountain Recreation Center in Northfield, Massachusetts. This unique event features a paddle, run, and mountain bike course on hilly, single-track trails and the Connecticut River. Participants can choose between a long course—5.5-mile paddle around Captain Kidd's Island, 4-mile trail run, and 7.5-mile mountain bike—or a short course with a 4-mile paddle, 2.5-mile run, and 3.75-mile bike.
The race offers solo and relay team options, including categories for juniors and grand masters. Safety measures, timing chips, and water stations ensure a fun, challenging, and well-supported experience. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
