Heart of the South Road Race
The Last Annual Heart of the South Road Race is an extreme ultramarathon held in Bryant, Georgia, covering distances of 343 or 400 miles. Participants begin by parking their vehicles atop Sand Mountain and are bused to an unknown start location 300-350 miles away. After receiving course maps, runners have 10 days to navigate back to their vehicles, relying solely on their skills and supplies they carry or find en route.
The race features twice-daily check-ins for safety, with support for dropouts. Finishers are shuttled to nearby motels for rest. This challenging event emphasizes self-reliance and adventure on open roads. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
