The Last Cowboy Backyard
The Last Cowboy Backyard is Nebraska's inaugural Backyard Ultra event, held in O'Neill, NE, featuring a unique last-runner-standing format. Participants run a 4.17-mile loop on the flat, non-technical Cowboy Trail, starting and ending at the community center. Each lap begins hourly, and runners must complete each loop within the hour to continue.
The race continues until only one runner remains. The event offers indoor and outdoor crew areas, with aid allowed only between laps. All finishers receive custom wooden plaques with their mileage, while the last male, female, and overall winner earn special awards, including a custom belt buckle for the champion.
The race caps at 150 runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
