The Ozark's Mountain Challenge

The Ozark's Mountain Challenge is a noncompetitive endurance event at Sam A. Baker State Park in Patterson, Missouri. Participants have 12 hours to ascend Mudlick Mountain eight times, totaling about 21 miles with roughly 7,980 feet of elevation—the benchmark used for comparison.

The route includes Mudlick Hike Only Trail, Mudlick Equestrian and Hike Trail, and a spur to Fire Tower Trail; the 2026 course was adjusted for safety and to reduce shuttle traffic. It emphasizes personal achievement over racing, with supportive volunteers and an after‑party. An optional Spark of Strength Ceremony on Friday marks the release of personal burdens.
