The Paavo Nurmi Marathon
The Paavo Nurmi Marathon, held annually in Hurley, Wisconsin, is the state's longest-running marathon, celebrating its 55th edition in 2025. This point-to-point race in Northern Iron County features a certified course that qualifies for the Boston and New York City Marathons. Alongside the full marathon, the event offers a half marathon, a marathon relay, and a Twilight 5K Run/Walk, which takes place Friday evening during the race expo.
The marathon honors Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi and fosters a strong community spirit with dedicated volunteers. Prize money is awarded to top finishers, with bonuses for breaking specific time goals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
