The Squatchy Surprise

The Squatchy Surprise is a unique trail running event held at South Mountain Reservation in Millburn, New Jersey, on July 26, 2025. Participants choose from 12-hour, 6-hour, or 3-hour race options. The course features four distinct trail loops, with runners drawing colored golf balls to determine their next loop, adding an element of chance and strategy.

A black golf ball allows runners to pick their preferred loop. After 6 PM, runners decide whether to continue drawing loops or switch to a ½-mile mini loop. The event supports the mental health nonprofit Bigger Than The Trail and offers a family-friendly atmosphere with activities for kids and eco-friendly amenities.
