The Squatchy Surprise

The Squatchy Surprise is a unique trail running event held at South Mountain Reservation in Millburn, New Jersey, on July 26, 2025. Featuring 12-hour, 6-hour, and 3-hour options, the race challenges participants' endurance and strategy with a twist: runners draw colored golf balls before each loop to determine their next trail segment from four different loops. A black ball allows choosing any loop.

The event supports the mental health nonprofit Bigger Than The Trail. Runners can opt for a mini ½-mile loop late in the day or continue drawing loops.
