Logistics, awards and charity
Parking is provided along Maywood Ave in front of Trophy Brewing. Registered participants receive a race medal and a beer from Trophy Brewing Company; non-alcoholic options are available. Premium poly blend shirts are offered for an additional cost at registration. Overall awards for the top three female and male finishers are cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50. Age-group award winners receive gift cards from Runologie. Proceeds and all donations go to Healing Transitions. Healing Transitions provides peer-based recovery oriented residential services for homeless and underserved individuals with alcohol and other drug addictions. The program has operated since January 2001 and reports it helped reduce Wake County’s homeless population by 25% while the county population grew 45%, a change the organizer describes as an approximate 50% drop in the number of un-sheltered homeless individuals.
