Event overview
The TWIN RIVERS YMCA Turkey Trot 5K & 10K is scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Taberna Golf and Country Club (401 Taberna Way, New Bern, NC). This is the 18th annual edition. Event distances include:
- 3.1 miles (5K)
- 6.2 miles (10K)
- 40 yards (Kid’s Dash)
The 5K offers both timed and untimed options and allows strollers and leashed dogs. The 10K is open to timed runners only. The Kid’s Dash is open to children ages 10 and under; all Kid’s Dash participants receive a t-shirt and a medal. The event is timed by Run The East, LLC.
Dogs must be on a fixed (non-retractable) leash and owners are responsible for cleanup; waste bags, trash cans, and water stations will be provided along the route. Skateboards, scooters, roller skates, roller blades, and bicycles are prohibited on the course. Free parking is available in the Taberna subdivision and a shuttle will run from the clubhouse toward Taberna Circle.
Registration, logistics and awards
Registration pricing for the 5K and 10K varies by date: early rates apply if registered by October 31, higher rates begin November 1, and a race-day price applies on November 27. Kid’s Dash registration is listed at $16. Transaction fees are included in the registration price. Register by October 10 to guarantee a race shirt and preferred size; a dry-fit (tech) shirt carries an additional $10 charge. There are no refunds and no transfers.
Packet pickup is at Twin Rivers YMCA on Monday, November 24; Tuesday, November 25; and Wednesday, November 26 (listed times apply). A shirt-mailing option is available for an additional $10; bibs are not mailed and shirts will be shipped on Friday, November 21. Awards include top 3 overall male and female finishers for both the 5K and 10K, top 3 male and female finishers in specified age groups, top 3 overall for Dog Jog and Stroller Run, and a Best Dressed special award.
