Event overview
The Ultimate Runner is scheduled for June 27, 2026, in Winston Salem, NC, at Bob Sosnik Track at Hanes Park. This is the 40th annual edition. The competition combines four track events and a cross-country race in one evening. Participants must complete all five events to receive a finishing score, an Ultimate Runner t-shirt, and a 4.91 Ultimate Runner car decal.
Format, registration and logistics
The five-event sequence is:
- 1 mile
- 400 m
- 800 m
- 100 m
- 5K cross country
Track events are run in heats based on submitted seed times. All runners are seeded by their best mile time from the past year. The field size is capped at 114 participants. Twin City Track Club members receive a $5 registration discount if they have claimed their membership on RunSignUp. Runners must check in by the published deadline to participate; failure to check in for an assigned heat on time may result in disqualification. A post-race awards ceremony and party will be held at Joymongers Barrel Hall across the street from Hanes Park; entrants and volunteers are invited and guests may attend for a nominal fee.
