Event overview
The Whiskey and Wine 5K is scheduled for April 25, 2026 and is organized by The Running Birds. The event takes place at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama, at the Redbud Pavilion (GPS 33.349113, -86.728967). The event is the second annual edition and combines a running event with an optional on-course whiskey and wine tasting.
Course, format and rules
The race distance is 5K on a one-loop course that passes by Lake Tranquility. The route will be clearly marked with signs and flagging tape and includes some elevation. Tastings are offered every half mile for a total of six tastings; the organizers will provide three different wines and three different whiskies, with exact selections revealed on race day. All participants receive a custom wristband at packet pickup and must wear it to access tastings. All participants must be 21 or older and there will be no alcohol sales at the event. One aid station will be at the halfway point and another at the finish; water will be provided at both.
There is no early packet pickup; race day packet pickup is at the Redbud Pavilion. Participants should bring photo ID for age verification. There are no awards for 1st-3rd place. Each finisher receives a bottle of whiskey or wine in exchange for their wristband; bottles are limited to the number of registered runners and are distributed in finish order.
