Event overview
The 2025 Whitefish Turkey Trot takes place on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Whitefish, MT. This is the 16th annual Whitefish Turkey Trot. The event includes the following distances:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
There will be separate waves for runners and walkers. The event is a fundraiser for the North Valley Food Bank. Participants are encouraged to bring food donations; requested items include turkeys, hams, fresh and canned potatoes, canned corn, cranberry sauce, pie filling, stuffing, gravy mix, cornbread mix, boxed pie crust, butter, oils, oats, flour, sugar, and common spices.
Course and logistics
The 3.1 mile course starts and ends outside the O'Shaughnessy Center. The route follows the bike path through the tunnel under Baker Ave to Oregon Ave/Lakeside Blvd alongside Whitefish Lake, then proceeds through residential streets (Skyles Pl, Iowa Ave, Waverly Pl, Dakota Ave, Edgewood Pl) before returning to the bike path and the finish arch. The route is tentative, will be marked, and volunteer course marshals will help direct participants.
Dogs are not allowed, except ADA service animals on a non-retractable leash no longer than 6 feet. Weather may include snow or ice; sand or salt will be used at the start and finish only, and participants are advised to bring traction devices for shoes. Parking is free in downtown Whitefish, including a parking garage at 402 E Second St. There are no aid stations on course; water and light refreshments will be available at the start/finish.
