The event takes place on September 12, 2026 at Kickapoo State Recreation Area, 10906 Kickapoo Park Rd, Oakwood, IL 61858. It is an annual trail event established in 1981 and serves as the final Grand Slam event (final event needed to complete the Grand Slam series). Distances offered include:

• 7.45 miles

Packet pickup and race day registration are available at the park; online registration opens October 30, 2025 and online registration by August 28, 2025 guarantees a race shirt. Race day registration does not include a shirt. The first 150 finishers receive a finisher award handed out at the finish. Grand Slam awards and other prizes are presented at the event and must be claimed in person.

Course, aid and race policies

The 7.45 mile course is about 95% trail and leaves the park to enter wooded terrain. The route includes steep climbs and descents, creek and bridge crossings, and possible wildlife sightings. There are two aid stations, located roughly 2 miles in and shortly after 4 miles, offering liquid hydration. There is no course time limit. Race regulations prohibit bandits, radios or headphones, strollers, and dogs. Organizers note no refunds or bib transfers and no mailing of awards or shirts.
