Wild Wild Wilderness
The Wild Wild Wilderness is an annual running event held at Kickapoo State Recreation Area in Oakwood, Illinois. Established in 1981, the race features multiple distances including a 5K, a challenging 7.45-mile trail run, and a combined WWW Challenge. The 7.45-mile course is predominantly trail-based, offering scenic views with steep hills, creek crossings, and potential wildlife sightings.
The event is part of the Kennekuk Road Runners Grand Slam series and celebrates community spirit and resilience. Aid stations provide hydration along the course, and a festive post-race party with food and beverages is held at the Meadow Shelter. Camping is available nearby for participants.
