The Winter Georgetown event on January 11, 2026 offers three distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
Points from the races count toward the Year-Long 5k, Endurance, Back of the Pack, and Winter Series. A virtual race option is available. Walkers and strollers are allowed. Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (drifit) event shirt, and the races are chip timed. T-shirts are guaranteed for entrants registered before December 26; extras may be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be no on-site race registration. Packet pickup is available at the event. Race-day entry fees increase by $5 on race morning.
Course, services, and logistics
Both the half and the 5k run on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path. The half marathon is an out-and-back along the C&O Canal - a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change - and starts and finishes in Georgetown near the Potomac Boat Club. The 5k is an out-and-back on a light gravel flat trail and starts and finishes at Fletcher’s Boathouse. The half marathon has a completion time limit of 3:15. Water stations are placed along each course: seven stations on the half (listed at approximate mile markers 1.55, 3.8, 4.3, 6.55, 8.8, 9.3, 11.55), three on the 10k, and one on the 5k; some stations will also provide Gatorade. Port-a-johns and indoor restrooms are available near the registration areas. There is no official bag check; items may be left at the timing table but the organizers are not responsible for valuables. Live results will be posted online and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race.
