Course, support and rules
The course is not marked on the streets; participants receive a map and turn-by-turn directions to carry during the run. Terrain is generally flat to gently rolling, and sidewalks are available for most of the route. Much of the route runs next to or on streets with possible heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Aid is self-supported: runners may use stores, delis, restaurants, park drinking fountains, or crew-supplied food and drink. RunnersWorld will be open during normal business hours but may be unattended overnight.
Pacers are allowed after a runner’s first lap. Crews may assist with food and supplies but may not move a runner forward or provide rides, which can result in disqualification. Mandatory items to carry include a cell phone, the provided direction sheet, cash or card (about $25 recommended), and at least one water bottle or hydration pack (minimum 20 oz). Music listening devices are strongly discouraged for safety. Littering is prohibited. Packet pick-up and race number assignment occur the morning of the event.
