Event overview
Wood You Rather is a checkpoint run in the woods held on May 16, 2026, at Mt. Tabor Park in Portland, OR. Runners receive a map at the start with ten checkpoints marked and choose their own route to visit as many checkpoints as possible and return to the finish within the course time limit. Depending on the route chosen, runners can expect roughly 5 to 11 miles with about 1200 to 1600' of elevation gain.
Format and competition
The event accepts individual entrants and teams. Teams may include 3 to 6 people; team time is the average of members’ times and team scoring is based on the lowest number of checkpoints found by any team member. Winners in the male, female, non-binary, and team divisions are determined by who collects the most checkpoints in the shortest time. Any competitor who returns after the course cutoff is recorded as a Did Not Finish (DNF); the same applies to a team if any member misses the cutoff.
Logistics and other details
