Yippee-Ki-Yay Races : October 25, 2025, Council Bluffs, IA
The event offers these distances, all starting and finishing at the Iowa West Foundation Trail Head Park on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail:
- 50K (31 miles)
- Half Marathon
- 10K
Each course is an out-and-back route run on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail. The trail surface is a fine crushed limestone. The 50K course is described as about 90% rail trail and 10% pavement. Courses are chip-timed and have a 9 hour course time limit. Final results and photos are to be posted after the event.
Race details and logistics
Field size is limited to 250 runners. Packet pickup is scheduled for 10/23 at Fleet Feet Aksarben (Omaha) and 10/24 at Dick’s Sporting Goods (Council Bluffs); there is no race-day packet pickup. Participants receive a finisher medal and a long-sleeve lightweight race hoodie; shirts/hoodies are not available after 10/3. A portion of each entry fee will be donated to the Wabash Trace Nature Trail. Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Aid stations will supply water, Honey Stinger sports drink and gels, and after 10 miles ultra food for 50K runners. 50K runners are encouraged to carry a hydration system. Awards are given to first, second and third overall male and female in each distance, plus new 1st and 2nd place age-group awards (18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-80). Prohibited: pets, baby joggers/strollers, roller skates/blades, skateboards, motorized vehicles, and unbibbied runners. Average October temperatures are listed as high 61°F and low 39°F.
