Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet

The Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet is a unique running and walking event held at The Trailhead in Theodore Wirth Park, Minneapolis. Participants can choose to run or walk solo or in teams over 6 or 12 hours, completing as many 5-mile loops as possible along Bassett Creek, known by its Dakota name Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ. The event celebrates Dakota culture and land, featuring an Indigenous People’s festival with Native vendors, artists, storytellers, and traditional games.

Additional activities include a kids’ Little Loopet and a 1 Loop Fun Run/Hike. The course offers a supportive atmosphere with aid stations serving Dakota foods, promoting connection to the earth and Indigenous heritage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
