Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet
The Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet is a unique running and walking event held at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota, celebrating Dakota people, land, and traditions along Bassett Creek, known in Dakota as Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ. Participants can choose between 6-hour or 12-hour solo or relay events, completing as many 5-mile loops as possible. The event also features a 1 Loop Fun Run/Walk and a Little Loopet for kids.
The race atmosphere is enriched by an Indigenous People’s festival at the Trailhead, showcasing Native vendors, artists, storytellers, and cultural activities. Aid stations highlight Dakota foods, and the event fosters community connection and Indigenous cultural education. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
