Event overview
The Blackout Night Runs take place Friday, June 19, 2026, at Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff, AZ. The event offers three trail distances:
- 27K - two full loops
- 13K - one loop
- 6K - shortened Soldiers Trail loop
Max elevation on the courses reaches 7,137 ft. Course elevation gain varies by distance, up to 1,293 ft for the longest distance. Each distance has a time limit, with the longest allowing up to five hours.
Course and logistics
Courses use Soldiers Trail and Highlands Trail and run through ponderosa pines above 7,000 ft, alternating between narrow single track and wider forest paths and topping out on a mesa with open views. Aid stations are positioned roughly every 4.0 to 4.4 miles on the longer loops and offer water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit; runners are advised to carry at least one bottle of water. Courses are marked with orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots and colored signs; blue and white checkerboard flagging marks wrong-way trails.
The start/finish and parking are at the North Parking Lot near the Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course. The event provides chip-timed results, live split tracking, finish-line photos, and a custom finisher medal. Group tent camping is available near the start/finish with a limited number of permits. Volunteer roles are used to staff aid stations and event operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
