Course and logistics
Courses run on rolling single-track trails through the foothills of the San Tan and Goldmine mountain ranges, with Saguaro cactus and desert valleys. Sections of the Goldmine Trail are very steep and rocky; portions of the San Tan Trail run through a sandy wash. The 50K performs three loops of the 17K layout, alternating direction each loop.
Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. Intervals vary by distance (roughly every 2.2 to 5.1 miles for longer races; shorter races have more frequent stops). This is a cupless event; participants must bring a reusable cup or buy one on site. Crews are allowed only at the start/finish area for the 50K and 26K; pacers are not permitted. Due to park parking limits, 9K and 5K participants must park at Mountain View Church and ride a shuttle into the park; a $7 park vehicle entry fee applies for others.
