Athens Ohio Marathon
The Athens Ohio Marathon, held annually since 1968, is Ohio's longest consecutively run marathon. Taking place in beautiful Athens, Ohio, the race starts in Uptown Athens near Ohio University's College Green. The marathon course quickly joins the Hockhocking-Adena Bikeway, offering a fast and flat route through the scenic Hocking River valley, ideal for runners aiming to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Despite Athens' hilly reputation, the course remains in the valley, providing a smooth running experience. Both the full and half marathon courses are USATF certified and well marked, finishing on the Ohio University track. The event combines rich history with a welcoming atmosphere in a charming college town. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
