About the race
Aztec Run for Education is a 5K run and walk held at Lake Merritt in Oakland, California. The event is hosted by the Spanish Speaking Citizens’ Foundation, a community organization serving since 1965. Participants complete one lap around the scenic Lake Merritt, a course described as historic and wheelchair friendly.
The event also offers a virtual option, with a calendar for timing via the ITS Your Race app, and participant T‑shirts for many registrants. The race supports education initiatives, part of the foundation’s mission, and celebrates the organization’s 60th anniversary with special summer discounts for early registrants and community impact. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
