About the race
Balloon Chasers 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run takes place in Statesville, North Carolina, with participants racing from the Statesville Airport Secondary Lot at 349 Old Airport Road. The event offers two distances: a flat, fast 5K on the airport runway and a 1 Mile Fun Run, both linked to the Carolina BalloonFest. Registration includes a one-day pass to BalloonFest (value $20).
The course affords views of colorful hot air balloons launching and in flight, weather permitting, and the 5K is chip-timed. Finisher medals go to the first 100 5K finishers and first 50 1-mile preregistrants, with age-group certificates awarded as well. Volunteers welcome.
