Event overview

The Bear Lake Ultra is a 24-hour timed running event on Saturday October 3 to Sunday October 4, 2026, at Bear Lake Camp in Lapeer, MI (3409 5 Lakes Rd). The event is open to ages 18 and older. Entry fee for the listed event is $98 and registration opens December 31, 2025. Runners complete as many laps as they wish within the 24-hour period on an approximately 3.1-mile loop.

Course, amenities and rules

The loop follows rolling hills and includes single-track trails, wider trail sections, some grass and a few bridge crossings. The event is chipped and is a cup-less race. Campsites near the aid station are included in registration; heated indoor bathrooms with showers are available at the aid station. Pacers are allowed after 50 miles or after dark. The aid station is next to the start/finish and is stocked with a wide range of food items; gels, other supplements and medications (for example ibuprofen) are not provided. Registered runners who camp may set up tents on Friday and/or Saturday nights; cars park in designated lots and car camping is allowed, but RVs and similar campers are not permitted in the camping area. Awards include a custom pint glass for the top male and female by loops completed and a belt buckle for runners who complete 100 miles or more; partial loops are not counted. The camp is operated by Lions Visually Impaired Youth Camp, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. No refunds, deferrals, transfers or virtual options are offered.
