The Big Cottonwood Canyon Classic takes place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Brighton, Utah, and uses trails around Brighton and Solitude ski areas. The event offers the following race options:
- Half Marathon
- 5K
- 5K Walking Course
The races start and finish at locations near Molly Greens / the Crest ski lift at Brighton Ski Resort. The event is held on marked mountain trails and includes both uphill and downhill trail sections.
Course and logistics
The longer race follows trails between Brighton and Solitude, using access roads and singletrack that pass Twin Lakes, SolBright, Moonbeam/Entry 1, Honeycomb Canyon, Summit Road, Lake Mary, and Catherine's Pass before returning toward Molly Greens. The Honeycomb section has had route changes; an updated route over into Little Cottonwood Canyon is noted in race materials.
Aid stations are on course, with a station at the base of the Twin Lakes dam that participants pass twice and an aid location near Moonbeam. Stations provide water and electrolyte drinks; one station is stocked with snacks such as chips, cookies, soda, fruit, and peanut butter and jelly. The entry fee includes a race shirt and a hat. The event offers paid downloadable training plans in 1-, 2-, and 3‑month options with daily workouts and tracking sheets. Prizes are awarded to top finishers in the 15K/half and 5K races.
