Event overview

The Billy Goat Mountain Climb is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, near Silverado, CA in the Cleveland National Forest. The event offers these distances:

  • 17 Miler (Silverado Loop)
  • 1/2 Marathon
  • 10K

The Start/Finish is on Maple Springs Road near the creek and Lost Woman Canyon (33°45'13.2"N 117°33'33.6"W). Runners will be shuttled from a roadside lot a few miles away; the shuttle location had not been determined for the 2026 race.

Course and logistics

The half marathon is an out-and-back that begins on Maple Springs Road, follows the creek on damaged asphalt for about 1.5 miles, then continues on a dirt truck trail with switchbacks up to Dead Man's Curve, Four Corners, and N. Main Divide before the turnaround. The 10K follows the same route but turns around at Dead Man's Curve about 1.5 miles up the truck trail. The Silverado Loop has nearly 3,800 feet of elevation gain.

Aid stations will offer water, electrolytes, and light calories. Planned aid station locations include miles 5, 8, 10.5 and 13.5 on the Silverado Loop; miles 3, 6.55 and 10 on the half; and mile 3 on the 10K. Cut-offs require Silverado Loop runners to reach the aid station near mile 10.5 by 10:30 am and half marathon runners to reach the same aid station (approx. mile 6.5) by 10:30 am.

Early pricing through September 30, 2025 is $100 for the Silverado Loop, $90 for the half marathon, and $80 for the 10K. Beginning October 1, 2025 prices rise to $120, $110, and $100 respectively.
