Black Diamond Express Trail Race
The Black Diamond Express Races take place on the Lehigh Valley Trail in Mendon, New York, offering a 5K and a Half Marathon along a rails-to-trails route. The Half Marathon is USATF-certified (NY17052JG) and part of the Greater Rochester Track Club’s Rochester Runner of the Year Series; the course is flat and fast, on a mostly packed stone-dust surface with coal cinders and occasional mud. The 5K covers 1.55 miles to a turnaround; the Half Marathon covers 6.55 miles to its turnaround.
The start/finish is near Mendon’s baseball fields south of Route 251. Expect a vocal, supportive atmosphere with live music at aid stations, a Recovery Zone, refreshments, and sponsor booths. First 150 registrants receive a commemorative shirt or mug; net proceeds support Mendon Foundation volunteer work. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
