Black Diamond Express Trail Race
The Black Diamond Express Trail Race, organized by the Mendon Foundation, takes place on the scenic Lehigh Valley Trail in Mendon, New York. The event features two distances: a 5K and a USATF-certified Half Marathon, both starting near the Mendon baseball fields. The courses are flat, fast, and primarily composed of packed stone dust with a slight soft surface, following a historic rails-to-trails path once used by the famous Black Diamond Express train.
The half marathon extends 6.55 miles west toward Rush before returning, while the 5K is a shorter out-and-back route. The race offers water stops, road crossings with marshals, and a supportive atmosphere with refreshments and recovery services at the finish. It is part of the Greater Rochester Track Club’s Rochester Runner of the Year Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
