Black Gold 24hr and 12hr Endurance Challenge
The Black Gold Endurance Challenge is a timed endurance event on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Belfry High School in Belfry, Kentucky. The event offers two timed formats: a 24-hour and a 12-hour challenge. Participants complete laps on a loop that begins and ends on the track and runs around the school parking lot. The loop is 1 mile long and is described as generally flat with some downhills; a reverse direction option adds two hills.
Course, timing, and categories
Chip timing is used with a timing mat, ankle bracelet tags, and shoe tags; participants must wear their timing tag and bib at all times for laps to count. Relay teams of three may run the 24/12-hour event and transfer a timing tag and bib between teammates. The course is open to traffic and is not certified. Porta-potties will be placed along the route and near the start/finish area. Phone coverage noted for the area includes Verizon and Appalachian Wireless.
Facilities, food, and awards
Food options include home-cooked meals, grilling, grab-and-go snacks, soup, sandwiches, donated food, water, soda, Gatorade, pickle juice, and coffee. Indoor lodging is available in the soccer locker room with showers, and outdoor camping or sleeping in vehicles is permitted on campus. Awards include top male and female in each timed event, rucksack awards for a 25 lb ruck challenge, team awards, belt buckles for certain mileage goals, and finisher items.
