About the race
Black Gold 24hr and 12hr Endurance Challenge takes place at Belfry High School in Belfry, Kentucky. The event uses a 1-mile loop around the track and school parking lot for nonstop laps over 24 or 12 hours. The new course is flat with occasional hills, offering a reverse-direction option for extra elevation.
Runners can compete solo or in 3-person relay teams; laps are tracked by timing mats with ankle bracelets and chip timing by Brunning Endurance Co. On-site amenities include water, Gatorade, food donated by the community, porta-potties, and indoor locker-room lodging or camping. There is a 25-lb rucksack challenge with awards for top mileage.
The course is not certified and is open to traffic; animals are welcome. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
