Course, format and charity
The course follows the bike path along Lake Champlain and runs between North Beach Park and Waterfront Park, with an ice cream pit stop in Water Works Park. Challengers run half of the 5K, stop to down a full pint of Vermont-made ice cream, then complete the remainder of the race. Participants who register as fun runners are not required to finish a pint. All proceeds from the race are designated for People Helping People Global, a Vermont-based international development organization that provides interest-free microloans to people living on less than $2 a day.
