About the race
Buffalo Stampede is Sacramento’s classic road race, offering a 10-mile Run/Walk and a 4-mile Run/Walk. Both routes travel through the River Park neighborhood, with the 10-mile course adding the levees along the American River and the Guy West Bridge. The race starts and finishes at the Scottish Rite Temple.
Described as the race that kicked off Sacramento’s road-racing tradition, it remains a cornerstone autumn event. Medals are awarded to all finishers, with age-group awards for the top finishers in each 5-year band. The Buffalo Chips Running Club, a not-for-profit, supports youth running in Sacramento through programs like Youth Chips, making the 51st running of the Stampede a community-focused, volunteer-driven affair.
