Event overview
The Catch-A-Pig 5K & Bacon Stroll takes place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail William Street Trailhead in Bel Air, Maryland. This is the 12th annual running of the event. The main running course is an out-and-back along the MA & PA Trail. The event program includes the 5K Catch-A-Pig, a Piglet 5K kids run, a Bacon Stroll walk, a dog walk option, and a Wolves category for ages 14 to 18. All proceeds after costs will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties.
Format and entries
The race uses a chase format. Young runners in pig shirts ("piglets") start three minutes ahead of the adult runners. Adult runners who pass at least one piglet before the finish are entered into a special drawing. A small number of "wolves" start later with a seven minute delay; if all wolves pass an adult runner, that runner loses eligibility for the special drawing. Runners under 13 may be piglets and receive a free pig t-shirt. Dogs may participate if registered and kept on a leash; dog registration is listed at $10. Entry fees listed on the event page include $32.80 for the Catch-A-Pig 5K, $27.50 for the Piglet and Bacon Stroll entries, $11.60 for the dog walk, and a separate Wolves fee. Some events note upcoming price increase dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
