The 50-mile course shows approximately 2500-foot elevation gain. Historic average temperatures are about 41 to 68 degrees. The event is a no-cup race; participants must provide their own water-carrying system.
Race services include aid station food and hydration, course marking, photography, and awards such as a soft cotton event T-shirt, finisher medals, a 50-mile buckle, ruck patch for the 9K RUCK, and 1st–3rd place awards plus a DFL award for each distance. If the park cancels the event due to rain on race day, the race may move to a backup course in Wichita Falls by decision of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Early packet pickup is available on the days before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
