Event overview
The 2026 Commander-in-Chief Chase is a running event at Wilderness Presidential Resort in Spotsylvania, Virginia on February 16, 2026. The event offers both on-site and virtual participation. Points from the races count toward the organizer’s Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Winter Series. Registered participants receive a finisher medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and the event is chip timed.

Course, services, and logistics
The route is paved through the resort and described as fairly flat with no major hills; a course map and elevation details are available from the organizer. The 10k course has five water stations at approximately miles 0.7, 1.8, 3.1, 3.8 and 4.9; the 5k course has two water stations at about miles 0.7 and 1.8. Gatorade is available at some stations. Restrooms are provided in buildings near the start area. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before February 4. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to 1st and 2nd place in multiple age categories; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. Live results are posted on Athlinks and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. The event supports Operation First Response.
