Features, awards and community program
The event is part of the Cowtown C.A.L.F. program, which visits about 400 schools across North Texas each year to teach running technique and basic health topics. Proceeds support the C.A.L.F. program and provide free running shoes and fitness training for low-income children.
Participants receive a dry fit runner shirt and finisher shirt (10K shirts are gender specific), a custom finisher medal, and a printable finisher certificate. Registration includes a pancake breakfast. The race offers entertainment along the route every 1 to 1.5 miles, face painting for children, a DJ, runner food, and an after-party with a live band and activities.
Age-division awards for both the 5K and 10K use custom medals: five-deep awards for youth divisions (ages 0–8 through 15–17) and three-deep awards for adult divisions (ages 18–24 through 90+). Packet pick-up is available at the Cowtown office in Fort Worth on October 2 and October 3, and on race day at the Coyote Drive-In. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
